About the Arrowhead Endeavor

Simply put, we have made the resolution to visit all 61 of the US National Parks.  No deadline, no elaborate plan.  We see ourselves as pretty average and things like time off and money are constraints.  We want to do each park justice, though.  No five minute visits to cross a park off our list!  So we’ll spend our vacations seeing a few parks a year.  All parks will get at least a full day of exploration; the bigger ones will get several days to allow for hiking, camping, etc.  Doing it this way, we anticipate it taking us almost 20 years!  We certainly will not be the first or the fastest but make no mistake, this will be a grand sweeping adventure!

The idea came about in 2016 which, coincidentally, was the centennial of the US National Parks Service.  Ted’s sister was visiting and sharing about her recent trip, including a stop at Carlsbad Caverns.  The conversation turned to which parks were and weren’t National Parks, how many there are, and where.  That was the spark and the opportunity to get it rolling was near.  We had a trip that upcoming August for a friend’s wedding in Kalispell, Montana . . . conveniently located right next to Glacier National Park.  We had both been to National Parks – some together, some as kids with our parents – but that would be our first “official” visit in our quest to see them all.

We are taking this on simply out of a love for the outdoors.  It just seems logical to seek out the best spots in the country!  Technically this is an endeavor we are pursuing as a couple but we will be taking our four kids to as many as we can.  Ultimately, by visiting these amazing parks, we hope that our children will grow up to share our appreciation of the beauty and diversity of God’s great creation.  And, by visiting this site, we hope you find a similar appreciation and perhaps even inspiration to see the National Parks for yourself.
