Meet Team Arrowhead
One early morning at Mora Campground in the Olympics, Elizabeth came up with ‘Team Arrowhead’. We enjoy geocaching as a family and had been brainstorming a name for a family account instead of using Ted’s. There on the concrete picnic bench was her inspiration – the impression of the National Park Service arrowhead. She sketched the outline of a large arrowhead for each of her siblings to fill in with drawings that represented themselves. She gets what the parks are all about . . . finding the uniqueness in the people and places around us.
Ted is a true Alaskan – rugged and outdoorsy. He enjoys hiking, fishing, shooting, backpacking, camping, geocaching, kayaking, zip-lining, skydiving, board games, and movies . . . up for pretty much anything (except eating strange and unusual things). He has an intense love of God, his wife, his kids, nature, and of reading maps. A structural engineer by day and an adventure-planner by night – he works hard so we can play hard!
Katie is a stay at home mom who is thankful for all the little things in her life. She loves photography, sewing, cardmaking, reading, and outdoor adventures. Paddling the kayak, lounging in her hammock or being trapped in her craft room are her happy places. She feels closest to God and her family while out in nature and she can find beauty in almost everything. She spends a lot of her time making lists and planning out photos or trips she wants to take.
Elizabeth is our 15 year old (39 in her heart) who loves to read and write, has a passion for ballet and piano, and will do anything to help others (she’s even cleaned our neighbor’s bathroom). She dreams of being a librarian someday and wants to visit all 50 states. She loves backpacking, running from waves, finding beach glass, organizing, and drawing.
Lucas is our 13 year old and our only son. He’s a lover of all things outdoors, legos, baseball, football, and karate. He sports Seahawk colored hearing aids so he can clearly hear all the girls in his life talk endlessly. Lucas is a sensitive soul who appreciates the quieter side of things. He is the most chillaxed kid we’ve ever met – just goes with the flow. He is always up for camping and throwing rocks into the water is his favorite hobby.
Margaret is our 10 year old spit-fire. She is always on the go, always has an idea, loves to lead, and is loud! She is whip-smart, independent, and truly believes she can do everything. She loves math, dance, and doing art projects. We believe she is the child that will always be on the go. She falls in love with every place we go and the worst part of every trip is when we go home.
Annabelle completed our family. At 8 years old, she is an avid kayaker and camper. Her favorite place to be is the campsite. She loves playing the “mommy game”, going to the zoo, coloring pictures, and ballet. She thinks she’s big enough to keep up with her siblings and is pretty determined to do so.
